Who We Are

Arc of The Universe is a Muslim streetwear brand founded by Asiya Aakil and Sajjad Hashim, with the hope of making a difference in the world. As young kids we decided to start this brand as a way to satisfy our interests in fashion, however, we were never able to find a brand that we felt fully expressed our Muslim and Black American identities. Though we found streetwear to be culturally relevant to us, different brands seemed to frequently have an undercurrent of vanity and ego. So we decided to change that. We have devoted ourselves to inspiring our community to strive towards self-improvement, by encouraging discipline and living God-centric lifestyle in order to better the world as a whole. Our designs are inspired by both islamic culture & streetwear. Creating aesthetically pleasing, high quality pieces that could also serve as a call to action for our peers. Wear Islam proudly, improve yourself daily and remember that though “The moral arc of the universe is long... it bends toward justice”. Everything that you do, that we do, to make this world better matters, even if it doesn’t feel that way, so we anchor ourselves in Allah and continue to do the work. Though the goal is lofty, our brand is rooted in this intention and we continue to do our best to honor it. Using ethically made and sustainably sourced labor and materials we bring to life the clothing and accessories that we always wanted growing up.
